Character History: Peter Sherman was born in Ohio. His family owned a large Mercantile interest.
He grew up under the thumb of his overbearing father, who relentlessly groomed the young boy for the role as heir to the business.
Peter was rebellious and he was shadowed by his younger brother Bobby. They were involved in a string of adventures climaxing in a brawl in which one of his adversaries was seriously injured.
Peter’s father was furious and enlisted Peter in a private military school.
Peter ran away from his family seeking his fortune in California. Along the way he found that his brother trailed him and wished to join him on the journey.
The two made it as far as Nevada. When Bobby is gunned down by a vicious local mercenary (Jeffrey Travis) over a five dollar hand of cards, Peter finds himself powerless to prevent it.
Fleeing from the crime scene, Peter dedicates himself to learning how to gunfight.
He tracked down and shot Travis but the wounded man escaped and disappeared.
Peter took up a life of drinking and working as a mercenary, protecting merchants and occasionally ranchers as a cowboy.
He developed a reputation for being a cold-blooded killer, bu the only ever killed in self-defense, preferring to stay out of a fight unless it was absolutely necessary. When he did fight, he took every advantage and shot to kill.
Eventually his lifestyle caught up with him and the alcoholism started to deteriorate his health.
Pete “Lighting” Sherman found himself an aging gunslinger in a dried up town in Nevada. He realized his chance for revenge was slipping away and cleaned himself up for the final pursuit of the bastard who killed his brother.
